Dramatic Play Area - November, 2012

The Hewson Hair Salon

Welcome To The Hewson Hair Salon!
The kids made the sign, and then the various
"Hair Design" posters.

The Waiting Area, magazines, and the Cash Register

The cash register, the child-made "Debit" machine
(yes, the kids DO pay attention and created it themselves).

The children wanted to make their own "chair hair dryers" that
they saw in a hair magazine. Small chairs, wrapping paper tubes,
and buckets...viola!! Plus, the pedicure chair!!

The aprons for the salon workers, and product-bottles
the children brought in from home.
The kids created a sink from a broken bin, they cut the "neck spot"
(well, I did, but they asked me to). They used ribbon and
a cardboard spool as the shower head.

The Hair Chairs. More products, and the tools of the trade.

Another mural the kids painted for the inside of the Hair Salon

The Hair Chairs again. They love putting on the aprons!
And they haven't broken the mirror (yet).

The tools to do our hair (thankfully, lice ISN'T a problem
at our school). I picked up some hair appliances at
Value Village, and cut off the cords, for the kids to use easily.

The curlers and the wig-bin. Plus a student-made
sign. The kids are always working on things for the centre.

We still have a "Home Centre" area. And I always have
the Dress-Up Centre open too!
Very important. The kids use them both often!
